There are now a number of organizations that collect data on homeless people and provide it free of charge on the internet. When reading this information, it is important to understand the particular slant to homelessness each organization takes, because their perspectives really effects the data and how it is interpreted. Politically motivated organizations will have different data than religiously motivated organizations. And among the politically motivated organizations, there will be a noticable difference between conservative and liberal organizations. And it's the same with religious organizations. To understand the information provided by organizations, it is important to know where they are coming from.
The following links are to websites with data concerning homelessness.

The Association of Gospel Rescue Missions provides their own stats concerning people staying at rescue missions.
