Teach A Man To Fish

"Give a man a fish and he will eat for a day.
Teach a man how to fish, and he will eat for life."

Society is built on an individual responsibility and access to opportunity.  A Republican will then slash fishing education, vilify fishing teachers, reward corporate fisheries, gut regulations that protect the fishing industry, and all the while will whine that teaching a man how to fish is socialism.

  1. A republican will try and reduce the regulations democrats impose on everybody in their quest to impose the Government on its people. There are some bad republicans sure, but none will vilify a teacher, unless that teacher is pushing for us to pay for their retirement and other benefits most of us have to save for ourselves yet the union will push for more and more increases that can't be sustained, but hey just raise taxes right?

There are way too many greedy bad unions sucking the well dry. Do we hear of any spending cuts or cuts in pet projects costing us billions? No, but they constantly tell us we need to pay more to fix this mess we didn't create.

I find it funny that people on the left want Government intrusion and more and more regulations, as if that will fix everything . For instance the Obama administration has created 18,000 new regulations, most of which hurt small business and also in the last 3 years too many forest preserve locations have shut down, who shut them down, republicans, I don't think so.

Twisting something to fit your agenda may make you feel better but socialism IS coming and while the thought of it may make you warm and fuzzy it's not sustainable and will make us like every other country that people are trying so deperately to get away from.

A republican will applaud somebody learning how to fend for themself while a democrat will want to surround you with Government agencies to "help you" fend for yourself.

    Just my humble opinion,

    Erik

  2. Erik,
There are two main differences between Democrats and Republicans, differences you fail to acknowledge.

Democrats do not create regulations just for the sake of having regulations. Businesses, big and small, will do things that are harmful to others and the environment if it means making more profits. They will pour poisonous chemicals into our water supply, they will make products that are dangerous or defective, etc, all so to increase their profits (cause taking short cuts is easier and less expensive). And the ONLY entity that can stop businesses from doing these kinds of things is the government. That is why we have regulations. Republicans on the other hand don't think that polluting the air and water and ground, and making the world a more dangerous place to live is a bad thing, so long as profits are being made. Where Republicans are focused on making as much money as possible, Democrats are focused on creating a livable sustainable world for everyone to live in. This is why I and many others are Democrats or vote on the Left side of the spectrum. It's because we believe that people are more important than profits.

And it's also not about creating a nanny state, it's about keeping the playing field level. Ever play poker? The person with the most chips has a clear advantage over those with fewer chips, making it more difficult, creating fewer opportunities for the less fortunate to compete. And that's something the wealthy, and their Republican puppets want to maintain. They don't want a level playing field. They want to have and keep an advantage over others. They really don't want fair competition. They only want competition where the game is slanted in their favor. Democrats want every one to have an equal chance at achieving the American dream, and they are working to make that happen.
